about me
Hi! I'm Kumi.
I am NJ and NY state licensed massage therapist, certified Manual Lymph Drainage(Vodder Technique) and Lymphedema Therapist.
I have moved to NYC from Fukuoka, Japan in 1994 to have dance trainings and dance professionally.
While I was dancing, I also enjoyed studying the functional movements and body alignments through Gyrotonic & Gyrokinesis, Iyenger Yoga, Anusara Yoga, etc.
After I left from Modern dance and Musical Theater, I found my next passion, which is to help people to restore their optimal health from the core. And I became a licensed massage therapist. I have been learning Osteopathy based, non-invasive manual therapies like Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Biodynamic Cardiovascular Therapy, and Ortho-Bionomy® and incorporating into my sessions.
My interests went beyond musculoskeletal issues. Many people I have seen have also digestive issues, head concussions/trauma, or cardiovascular issues. I want to support people as a whole and help to bring a balance in the immune system and nervous system. And then I became Manual lymph Drainage therapist and moved on to be a certified lymphedema therapist.
Since 2015, because of my family's illnesses, I self-studied about nutrition and medicinal plants and experienced how powerful they could be. So studying plants medicine and nutrition became my passion too.
I still enjoy practicing yoga, and discovering about the human body and the healing power of nature.
